Double Slider Card

Double Slider Card

Hello there! Today I have a fun, interactive card to share with you.

This week, the Crafty Meraki design team was asked to create interactive cards. As I had never made a double slider card before, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to try my hand at it. The Gnomeo & Juliet stamp set seemed an ideal choice for this card design.

I began by stamping that adorable house from the Gnomeo & Juliet set in the center of an A2 panel of white cardstock. I stamped and fussy-cut a mask for the house and placed it over my stamped image. I then applied a mask for the ground and inked up my sky with the following colors of Catherine Pooler inks: Catching Rays, Be Mine, Pixie Dust, and Drive-in.

I moved the mask from the ground to the sky and blended the grass with Lime Rickey and Aquatini inks. Next, I recovered the ground and added White Snowflake Paper Splatter to the sky. I removed the masks and colored the house with Copics. Onto separate white cardstock, I stamped and colored those cute gnomes, which I diecut with the coordinating dies.

Using dies from my stash, I diecut tree trunks, a grass border, and a cloud border (for the tree tops) from white cardstock. I colored the grass and cloud borders with the same colors as my background. To the tree trunks, I applied Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress Oxides. Before assembling my card, I white heat-embossed a sentiment from Gnomeo & Juliet onto my tree tops.

I will not try to discuss the assembly of this slider mechanism (I fear I would only confuse you), but I will say that I used MFT Stamps’ Double Slider Loop Slots Dies and referenced several videos on their YouTube channel during construction. I confess assembly was a bit of a bear, but I love how this card turned out.
