Blissfully Scrappy

Hi there! Today I’m sharing a fun card combining a couple of my favorite techniques: pattern making and inlaid diecutting featuring products from Picket Fence Studios.

This card might look time-consuming, but it came together pretty quickly! I started by creating my pattern with the Wreath Building Ice Cream You Scream stamp set. To make it easy for myself, I arranged several of the images onto the lid of my MISTI and just moved and rotated my cardstock when stamping. To fill the panel completely, I eventually removed some of the stamps and stamped one or two here and there.

Once my panel was filled, I colored the images with Copics. To speed up the coloring, I kept the colors to a minimum (for me anyway – ha!) and used no more than three markers for each color. After coloring, I highlighted the images with a white gel pen.

Now for the scary part. I diecut my colored panel with the Hooray Word Die, retaining both the positive and negative diecuts. I also cut black cardstock four times with the word die. I adhered the outer negative diecut of my colored panel to a white cardbase and inlaid one of the black “hooray” diecuts. Next, I glued the smaller negative diecuts inside the word and then stacked the rest of the “hooray” diecuts, ending with my Copic-colored one.

My supporting sentiment is from the Lick the Bowl stamp set. I white heat-embossed it onto a strip of black cardstock, “bannered” both ends with my scissors, and popped it up with foam tape. For a bit of sparkle, I finished with some Iridescent Moonshine sequins.
