Sweet Ghosts & Spiders: Waffle Flower Crafts’ September Release

Hello there! Recently, Waffle Flower Crafts invited me to guest design for their September release, and, of course, I said yes! I really enjoy making Halloween projects and was thrilled that the release is Halloween themed! I’ll be sharing several cards over the next few days, so stay tuned (psst. I’ll also have a giveaway later this week on my Instagram account).

My first project uses the new Sweet Ghosts Dies and Full Moon Stencil. I thought it would be fun to create an infinity shaker card, especially when I found this awesome sequin mix in my stash.

I began by creating my background with the Full Moon Stencil, which is a layered stencil set. I used the following colors of distress ink: Milled Lavender and Dusty Concord for the moon and Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot for the sky. After ink-blending, I added splatters of water and white paint to represent stars (I used the stencil to mask the moon while I applied the splatters).

While I let the background dry, I worked on those adorable ghosts. I cut the ghosts out of white cardstock using the Sweet Ghosts Dies. I colored the cheeks, eyes, and mouth and added shading to the bodies with Copics. I assembled the ghosts by placing tape behind the ghosts’ heads and inlaying the small diecuts. I added highlights with a white gel pen to help my ghosts stand out from the background a bit.

I heat-embossed a sentiment from the Boo Sentiments stamp set onto my moon. After trimming my background panel just a tad, I slipped it into an acetate pouch, dumped in the sequin mix (too much?), and sealed the pouch with double-sided adhesive. I attached the shaker to a white card and popped up those cute ghosts with foam.

Now, we move from happy ghosts to a grumpy-looking spider, who is from the new Cute Spiders Dies. I diecut him from white and glitter cardstocks and offset the two layers to give him a highlight. The witch hat and “boo” diecut are from the Sweet Ghosts Dies, and I cut them from two colors of metallic cardstocks.

For the spider’s background, I used the new Spider Web Texture Die. After diecutting white cardstock with the texture die, I blended the panel with the following colors of distress oxide: Peeled Paint and Forest Moss. To add more interest, I added splatters of water and white paint.

Waffle Flower is also releasing a fun paper pad this month called Spooktacular. That fun, orange plaid is from it, as is the black, striped paper. I trimmed the plaid paper slightly (The paper pad is A2 size) and adhered it to a white card.

I diecut the black frame and my web background with the Lacy Ovals Dies. I attached the frame to the background with foam adhesive, leaving a small gap in the foam at top to allow for the string and glued the piece to my card. I glued the white string to the background and popped up the spider and sentiment with foam. I finished with black and white gems from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by! I’ll see you tomorrow with more inspiration using Waffle Flower’s September release!
