Butterfly Notecards

Butterfly Notecards

Hello there! Today I’m back to share a pair of sweet notecards I created with Crafty Meraki’s Magic Maker Pop Up Dies.

I love looking for unusual ways to use dies, which is how these notecards began. I kept looking at the scalloped die from the Magic Maker Pop Up Dies, wondering how I could use it differently.

Using the scalloped die from the Magic Maker Pop Up Dies, I diecut two panels from white cardstock. I scored each panel at 3 1/2″ and stamped the bouquet from the All My Love stamp set onto the scalloped semi-circle of each panel. Before stamping, I masked the panel on the other side of the score line to prevent stamping on that side. I trimmed a thin strip from one of the panels so they would layer well. To hide any impressions left on the back of the panels by my diecutting machine, I trimmed a rectangle measuring 3 1/2″ x 3 13/16″.

I created belly bands to keep the notecards closed. First, I trimmed a 1 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ strip of patterned paper from the Color Cascade paper. I scored the strip at 2 1/2″ and 6 1/8″ and applied double-sided adhesive to one end of the strip. To embellish the belly bands, I created butterflies with the Luna Dies. I diecut the layers from the Rainbow Ombre Glitter Paper and white cardstock and the body from black cardstock. I assembled the pieces with liquid adhesive and added Lavender Luster Opals along the body.

Assembling the notecards is pretty simple. I adhered the trimmed diecut panel on top of the other panel, rotating it so that the scalloped semi-circles meet in the middle. Next, I attached the white rectangle in the center where the two panels overlapped. I removed the release paper from the adhesive on the end of the belly band and secured the ends together (I recommend reinforcing all of the score lines with a bone folder). I slid the belly band onto the notecard and attached the butterfly to the band with a strip of foam tape.

I love how these notecards turned out! They’re the perfect size to tuck into a gift and can be used for any occasion.
