Hi there! When Spellbinders asked if I wanted to create with their Felt Stitch & Create Collection, I couldn’t resist! I love making Christmas ornaments – although these would be great as gift toppers, too!

For these projects I used the Felt Gingerbread Boy & Girl and Felt Candy Cane Dies. To help with assembly, I watched the videos by Nichol Spohr, the designer of the dies before I started.

I love pink and just had to make a pink candy cane with the Felt Candy Cane Dies. I diecut the base layer for the candy cane twice from pale pink felt and the stripes (two of each design) from a medium pink felt. Using three strands of coordinating embroidery floss, I stitched the stripes to each base layer (make sure to stitch the stripes on the reverse side of one of the layers). Next, I stitched the two layers together, stuffing the candy cane with polyfill before finishing.

I diecut the holly leaf four times from green felt and the berries twice from red. To give the leaves more heft, I stitched two together with green floss. Likewise, I stitched both berry diecuts together with red floss. Instead of diecutting the individual berries from felt, I used red sequins and seed beads, which I attached with one strand of floss. I stitched the leaves and berries to my candy cane and added silver cord for a hanger.

Following the same process, I created this adorable gingerbread man ornament with the Felt Gingerbread Boy & Girl Dies. Before stitching the two gingerbread layers together, I stitched the mouth and eyes on the top layer. As with the berries on the candy cane, I used sequins and coordinating seed beads for the eyes. Again, I stuffed my gingerbread man with polyfill before I finished stitching the two layers together. Note: Be careful stuffing your ornament! I added too much filling and had to do a little “surgery” on my gingie.

To finish my guy, I hot glued the white “icing” and cheeks. I diecut the bowtie twice from blue felt and the buttons once from red. I stitched the bowties together with blue floss for dimension before adding them to my gingerbread boy. Again, I added silver cord to create a hanger for my ornament.
