Gingerbread Christmas Cards

Gingerbread Christmas Cards

Hello there! I’m switching gears from Halloween to Christmas today (There will be lots of that for the next couple of months, so be warned!) and sharing two cards featuring new dies from Spellbinders.

My first card features the new Gingerbread House Dies. My family likes to decorate gingerbread houses for the holidays (Mind you, they never look this good!), so I was excited to create with this die set.

I diecut the house elements from white and colored cardstocks. To create a bit of dimension, I added some ink-blending to the snow, garland, door and house diecuts before assembly. I diecut the house a few times from red cardstock and used the negative circles for the berries on the garland. Similary, I diecut the detail roof layer a few times from colored cardstocks to create the colored bits on the roof.

To create the focal point for my house, I diecut colored and glitter cardstocks with the Scallop and Stitched Edge Ovals. I stacked the three ovals and popped up the house with foam tape. For my sentiment I hot-foiled the Mistletoe Greetings Press Plate with Gold Glimmer Foil and diecut it with the coordinating die.

For a simple background, I embossed kraft cardstock with the Flurry of Snowflakes 3D Embossing Folder. The cardstock has a white core, so I sanded the raised images to help them stand out. I trimmed down the panel, adhered it to a white card and attached my focal point with foam adhesive.

For my second card, I created a mini slimline with the Gingerbread Train and Sweet Borders Die Sets. I just love all of the details in the train dies!

I embossed a panel of green cardstock with the Tiny Dots Embossing Folder and adhered it to a white card. I diecut the Sweet Borders Dies from white and kraft cardstocks, layered the diecuts and attached the border with foam tape.

Using the Gingerbread Train Dies, I diecut the train pieces from colored and glitter cardstocks. To create the lollipops, I simply trimmed strips of white cardstock and adhered them to some train wheels. I adhered the train with foam to my card and tucked in the lollipops with thin 3D foam.

My sentiment is from the Merry & Bright Sentiment Strips Press Plate and Die Set. I hot-foiled the plate with Opaque White Glimmer Foil, diecut the sentiments, and popped up my chosen one with thin 3D foam.
