Hello, again! Today I’m sharing a Halloween card combining mixed media with diecuts from Whimsy Stamps and paper from Cardstock Warehouse.

Whimsy Stamps has lots of wonderful card fronts for quick cardmaking, and I chose one from the Lil Witches A2 Quick Card Fronts for this card. She may be a little creepy, but she sure is cute!

To frame that cute witch, I used Whimsy’s Thorny Frame Die. I diecut the frame once from Amethyst Colorplan paper and three times from black cardstock and stacked the diecuts. I trimmed around my image using the frame as a guide and then glued the frame to the image.

Next came my favorite part of the project: creating the mixed-media background! I started with a panel of Mid Green Colorplan paper and then used the package technique to apply several colors of distress oxides in layers, drying the panel in between each layer. I then partially stamped the Vintage Script Background in black in a couple of places before heat-embossing the web and spiders from the Good Fright stamp set. Finally, I messily applied a bit of texture paste (mixed with black ink) through the Harlequin Stencil.

Once the panel was dry, I trimmed it down and adhered it to a cardbase. I attached the framed image with foam tape. I diecut a bat cut from Rust Colorplan paper with the Batty Dies, blended it with black ink and popped it up with foam. Using the Wild Weeds Dies, I cut the foliage from Onyx Stardream cardstock and Natural Translucent Vellum. I stamped a sentiment from Ghost Party onto Mid Green Colorplan paper and diecut it with the Quick Strips Dies. I finished with a scattering of copper gems.
