Jack o’Lantern Treat Bags

Jack o’Lantern Treat Bags

Hi, friends! Today I’m sharing my last Halloween project for the year. I had so many more things I wanted to create, but just ran out of time. There’s always next year, right?!

For my final project, I decided to make some fun, shaped treat bags. To create these, I used Whimsy Stamps’ Build-a-Pumpkin Dies, diecutting two of the largest pumpkins from the die set out of cardstock. For these bags I used Cardstock Warehouse cardstock in the following colors (from left): Colorplan Bright White, Rust, and Chartreuse.

To one of the matching pumpkins, I added a jack o’lantern face with Whimsy’s Halloween Expressions Stencil and Black Soot Distress Ink. I colored the stem of both pumpkins by masking off the pumpkins below the stem and blending the stems with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

To create the body of the bag, I cut a rectangle measuring 4 1/4″ x 5″. I scored the rectangle at 1″ and 3 1/4″ along the 4 1/4″ side and at 2″ and 3″ along the 5″ side. I trimmed a little from the narrow tabs created by the score lines on the 5″ side and secured the tabs together with double-sided adhesive. For the handle I cut a strip of matching cardstock at 1/2″ x 6″ and secured each end to the sides of the bag on the inside.

I attached the pumpkins to the front and back of the bag with double-sided adhesive and finished each with a bit of twine. If you prefer your bag to sit level, I suggest trimming the bottoms of the pumpkins slightly before assembly.
