Hello there! Today I’m sharing an adorable, felt gnome created with Spellbinders’ Fergus Dies. I love a cute gnome, especially at Christmas, and couldn’t resist these dies!

Using the Fergus Etched Dies, I diecut all of the gnome pieces from quality wool felt. The type of felt is very important because the inexpensive felt you can buy in a hobby store does not diecut well and tears too easily when stitching. To decorate my gnome, I diecut flowers and foliage with the Winter & Christmas Embellishments Dies.

Once all of my pieces were diecut, I followed Sandi MacIver’s video tutorials to assemble my gnome. For all of the stitching, I used three strands of embroidery floss and the back and blanket stitches.

Unlike Sandi, I chose to hot glue the beard, nose, jacket and hat to the body of the gnome and the hands inside the sleeves. The nose and hands were the most challenging to form, but none of the stitching or assembly is all that complicated.

I’m so pleased with how my gnome turned out! I need to make more in other colors to display throughout the year. I hope Spellbinders adds more embellishment die sets to this collection!
Thanks for stopping by!
