Blissfully Scrappy

Hi there! I know Christmas is long over and a (seemingly) long way off, but I just HAD to create with My Pretty Thing’s new Traditional Nutcracker collection when I saw it!

The Traditional Nutcracker Patterned Paper includes some beautiful, layered papers that make short work of a layout. Just add some embellishments and cute photos, and – voila! – you have a lovely work of art!

I chose this beautiful, red paper from the Traditional Nutcracker paper with this cute photo of my kitty in mind. Because she is peeking out from beneath our Christmas tree, surrounded by presents, I thought this paper with the Christmas tree and gifts would be the perfect backdrop.

I matted my photo with a couple of patterned papers from my stash, distressing the edges of each mat before layering them together. After adhering the photo with thin foam tape to the background paper, I tucked in greenery and berries created with the Hollydays Pine & Pieces Dies. I embellished the greenery with diecuts from the Traditional Nutcracker Ephemera and Traditional Nutcracker Multicultural Ephemera packs. Because I prefer a thin border on my diecuts, I trimmed them with scissors before adhering them. My title is from the Sweet Memories Emphera pack. I added light gray ink to the edges before popping it up with foam.

To balance the layout, I layered some tags created with the Everyday Tags Dies in the top left of my page, trimming the excess with my paper trimmer. I wove some red baker’s twine through the tags’ holes and glued the loops in place. I embellished the tags with more greenery and ephemera.
