Floral Cards with Spellbinders’ Summer Solstice Collection

Happy Friday, peeps! Today I’m sharing two more floral cards – this time with Spellbinders’ new Summer Solstice Collection.

For these cards I used the Cosmos and Echinacea Die Sets from the Summer Solstice Collection. I love the level of detail in these dies: They create such realistic and dimensional flowers!

Thanks to my mother-in-law I have quite a few coneflowers in my yard, so I couldn’t resist the Echinacea Dies. I diecut the pieces from colored cardstocks, using two shades of pink for the blooms. To create some dimension, I added inks in coordinating colors before assembly.

I dry-embossed pale pink cardstock with the Tile Mosaic 3D Embossing Folder (retired), trimmed it down and adhered it to a white card. Using the Mirrored Arch Labels Dies, I diecut gold mirror and white cardstocks. I blended blue ink in the center of the white diecut before stacking the ovals, which I attached to my card with foam tape.

I arranged my blooms and foliage onto my card, adhering them with liquid adhesive. To add a little sparkle to the centers of the flowers, I applied a small amount of glue and then sprinkled on gold glitter. My sentiment is from the Curved Everyday Sentiments Hot Foil Plate, which I foiled with Gold Glimmer Foil.

For my second card, I used the new Cosmos Dies. I just love how this one turned out! I diecut the flowers from yellow and orange cardstocks and the foliage from lime green cardstock. I added inks in coordinating colors for interest and assembled the flowers with liquid adhesive.

I thought it would be fun to create a shaped card, so I pulled out the Essential Stylish Ovals Dies. To create the cardbase, I let the die hang off the folded edge when diecutting. I used the same die to cut a white panel for the cardfront. Using smaller dies from the set, I cut ovals from gold mirror and ivory cardstocks. After layering the diecuts, I attached them to my card with foam.

I used a sentiment from the Must-Have Sentiments Hot Foil Plate & Die set and Gold Glimmer Foil. For some sparkle I added liquid adhesive to the centers of the blooms and sprinkled on gold seed beads.
