Hi, friends! I’m sharing a pair of cards featuring Spellbinders’ new Flags & Banners Dies from the Say Cheese Classic Mouse Collection with Simple Stories.

I chose to focus on the fun paper fans in the Flags & Banners Dies for these cards. They also remind me of cupcake liners, further emphasizing the birthday theme.

After choosing a color palette, I diecut the two paper fan designs from colored cardstock. I cut the solid diecut (background layer) from a darker shade of cardstock and used a lighter shade for the detail (or top) layer. I adhered the layers for each fan together with liquid glue and set them aside to work on the background.

Onto an A2 panel of white cardstock, I hot-foiled a sentiment from the Sweeping Celebration Sentiments Press Plates with Gold Glimmer Foil. I arranged the paper fans onto the panel, popping them up with varying heights of foam, and trimmed away the excess.

After adhering the sentiment panel to a white card, I added white splatter to the paper fans (I masked the sentiment beforehand). I finished with some gold pearls for more shine and interest.

For my second card, I focused on one of the paper fan designs in the Flags & Banners Dies. I used only the fringed or detail die and diecut the layers for each fan from two shades of cardstock.

After gluing the two layers for each paper fan together, I arranged them onto a white cardbase. Again, I added splatters of white paint for interest.

My sentiment is a combination of the Classic Mouse Numbers & Punctuations Dies and the Curved Everyday Sentiments Glimmer Plate & Die Set. I diecut the numbers once from gold mirror cardstock and three times from white and stacked them together, offsetting the gold. I hot-foiled the Curved Everyday Sentiments Glimmer Plate with Gold Glimmer Foil and diecut the sentiments with the matching die. I popped up the numbers and sentiment banner with varying heights of foam and finished with a scattering of gold pearls.
