Hi there! It’s been a minute, hasn’t it? Life has been a little hectic, but it’s finally starting to calm down (I hope!), which should allow me more time for crafting.
While I’m so ready for fall and cooler temps, today I’m sharing a mini album featuring the gorgeous Summer Surfin’ collection from My Pretty Things. I hadn’t had a chance to play with this collection, and because it’s technically still summer and hotter now than it was in July, now seemed like the perfect opportunity to stay inside and craft with it.

I created the album, which measures 4 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ x 1 3/8″, from heavy, white cardstock. I decorated the covers and spine with one of the papers from the Summer Surfin’ 12×12 Patterned Paper. After trimming the paper to size, I inked the edges with gray ink. I framed the front cover by diecutting the largest die from the Nested Rope Frame Dies from blue cardstock. For the the album title, I diecut yellow cardstock with the Funny Friend Font – Capitals Alphabet Dies and mounted the letters onto a wavy rectangle created with a smaller die from the Nested Rope Frame Dies. I finished the title with a combination of diecuts from the Summer Surfin’ 1 and Summer Surfin’ 2 Ephemera Packs.

All of the pages are covered with papers from the Summer Surfin’ 12×12 Patterned Papers and embellished with diecuts from the Summer Surfin’ 1 and Summer Surfin’ 2 Ephemera Packs. The white border on the ephemera is a little wide for my preference, so I fussy-cut the ephemera to have a narrow border. The “vacay mode” phrase on the right page is actually from the Summer Surfin’ 6×6 paper. I cut out the phrase with the Everyday Sentiment Strips Dies using the partial diecutting technique.

The phrases on both of the pages above are from the same 6×6 patterned paper as the “vacay mode” phrase. For the polaroid frame, I diecut blue and white cardstocks with the Photo Frame Dies. I popped up all of the ephemera with foam adhesive, being sure not to place any adhesive on the photo mats so that I could easily add the photos later.

For the left page, I diecut the Film Strip Die Set from white and gray cardstocks. I trimmed down the film strip to fit vertically on my page. For the page on the right, I used the smaller die from the Photo Frame Dies, cutting it three times from both white and pink cardstocks. The sentiment on the right is from the Hey There Sunshine stamp and was diecut with the Hey There Sunshine Dies. The right page flips out for additional photos, so I added a pulltab diecut from coral cardstsock with one of the tab dies from the Mini Envelope Die Set.

To decorate the page on the right, I fussy-cut some of the images from the Sea Life paper on the left.

I diecut three patterned papers with the Everyday Tag Dies. Because the patterned papers are double-sided, I also cut tags from coordinating cardstocks to cover the back of the tags. To create the pocket, I diecut patterned papers with the Torn Paper Edges Dies and embellished the pocket with ephemera.

I diecut the green photo mat on the left with the Photo Frame Dies. To create the pocket on the right, I cut one of the papers at an angle and adhered it along the bottom and right side.
Thanks for stopping by! I have a reel on my Instagram account showing the interactive elements of this album, if you’d like to check it out.
