Ready for Halloween

Ready for Halloween

Hi there! I’m excited to share that I’m part of the Whimsy Stamps Halloweeners Design Team! I was on the team a few years ago and am thrilled to have been invited back. There’s nothing like Halloween to give one permission to be a little wild and crazy!

*If you’re visiting from the Whimsy Stamps Facebook group, my word for the Guess the Phrase Game is SITTING.*

That adorable, sleeping bat is from the Cutie Batootie stamp set. I thought that sentiment from the stamp set was perfect for my first Halloween project! I colored the bat with Copics, fussy-cut him (There are coordinating dies, but I did not want a white outline), and went over the edges of the paper with a black marker to hide the white core.

To give the illusion of a cave, I diecut an opening into a panel of lime green cardstock with the Wavy Nested Frames Dies. I blended the edges of the panel with Mowed Lawn, Rustic Wilderness, and Black Soot Distress Inks. I created the perch for my bat with the branch die from the Howling Night Dies using the same cardstock and inks as the cave. I glued the branch behind the frame and trimmed away the excess.

That awesome background is from the Haunted Paper pack. I attached my “cave” with foam tape and cut away the excess paper before adhering it to a cardbase. I diecut the spider and web with the Spiders and Webs Dies. I glued the web to my frame, trimmed away the excess, and popped up the spider with a bit of foam. The leaves are from the Build-a-Pumpkin Patch Dies. I diecut them from black cardstock, misted them with water and crumpled them in my hand to add some texture.

I diecut the thought bubble with the Comic Speech Bubbles Dies and stamped the sentiment from Cutie Batootie. I attached the bat with two layers of foam and popped up the thought bubble with one layer. I finished with white highlights on the bat and spider.
